What often happens is that a person believes they can succesfully open and operate a restaurant when they have no real experience. The common scenarios are: the graduate of a culinery shool, the person who has worked in just one area of a restaurant, or the dreamer (The person who thinks it's easy and always dreamed of opening a restaurant). The unfortunate reality is that it's easy to open the doors but hard to keep them open. But what bothers me most is the reality of TV shows such as Restaurant Impossible or Bar Rescue and others, where the host performs a makeover and does some other minor changes, and within 3 to 4 days it is conveyed that the business has been saved - NONSENSE!
Keeping your doors open involves more than a few recipe or drink changes; it involves training, cost controls, marketing, leadership development, the establishment of Stakeholder Equity, and implementing the theoretical approach known as "Ownership" (to name a few). All of this and more is what Donald Mason Consulting can do for your business, because your business is not a sixty minute television show - it's your life.
